Can I use effects and or distortions through a mic on on a looping station, or is it strictly for guitar?

You can give it any kind of input you like: plug a mic via an XLR-Jack lead into a guitar (distortion,...) pedal, and plug that one into the loop pedal. The Jam Man even has an XLR Mic input, so you can straight plug in a mic. |
